Are You Legal? - A Quick Guide to Autodesk Licence Compliance

A number of our customers have requested guidance around Autodesk license compliance. There are a number of areas which are causing confusion such as; home use policy, use of previous software versions and double authorisations. Customers have expressed that they are finding it difficult to know if they are compliant or not. We have put together a few common queries to help you highlight possible areas of non compliance.

Common Examples of Non Compliance

"We have received the disks for 2010 under subscription and installed and authorised them for a new starter (we are still using the previous version on the original workstation). Autodesk authorised the new software without a problem so it must be legal..."

"We have subscription and installed software to one of staffs personal laptop under the Autodesk Home Use Policy - that's OK isn't it?"

Most company owners and directors want their organisation to be legal in terms of the software that they use and the way that they use it. Indeed, if left unchecked, non-compliance can lead to significant penalties for the business and in many cases, legal proceedings against individual directors. However, these steps are only invoked if customers fail to manage their software assets and ignore non compliance warnings. Cadpoint can quickly help you achieve and maintain compliance. Working with your IT team, we will help you establish what software you actually need, ensure that you have the correct number of licenses and check that they are being used in the right way. In addition, we are happy to provide free training to your IT staff to maintain compliance in the future.
